Meet the Team
KRISTIN PAZULSKI
Development Director and Assistant Editor
Kristin was a reporter in Philadelphia for two years before venturing out to Los Angeles to try her hand at the normal "9-to-5 desk job." Finding that her passion lied in both helping people and writing, she worked as a barista—brightening and caffinating people's mornings —and writing as a freelancer. Her most dedicated writing was for the Denver VOICE, the city's street paper.
After a year of slinging shots and pounding the keyboard, she took over the direction and fundraising of the VOICE, which she cheesily describes as her dream job. But it's true. She freelances a bit too, but most of the time you can see her networking around the city, writing in her Led Zeppelin-record-cover journal and talking about the VOICE.
TIM COVI
Editor
Tim Covi comes to the Denver VOICE with a background in print, online and radio journalism. Shortly after college he interned at Radio 1190, KVCU Boulder as both a DJ and reporter. Covi was part of the upstart of Radio 1190’s two news programs in 2001; Undercurrents, a weekly radio program dedicated to underreported national and local news, and a sister public affairs talk show. After leaving the university, Tim traveled to Palestine/Israel as a freelance reporter working in the West Bank. Upon seeing the stark disparity between western news coverage of the region and the actual events unfolding around him, Tim wrote a proposal to develop a media outlet that would give international journalists unprecedented access to real-time information about the conflict, so western audiences could get the facts from the field. With a Swedish journalist and a local NGO he founded the International Middle East Media Center, an online daily providing detailed coverage of events and life throughout Palestine and Israel, along with up-to-the-hour brief accounts of military incursions and breaking news.
At the Denver VOICE, Tim continues to search for underreported stories and to share perspectives that are less discussed in dominant media outlets. As an editor and a writer, he hopes to be able to provide stories that are educational and that open people's minds to different perspectives on their communities.
ROSS EVERTSON
Creative Director
Ross Evertson brings to the Denver VOICE extensive experience in graphic design and photography. He attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where he was eventually awarded a BFA in photography. During his time at Art Center he worked with the United Nations sponsored program “Design Matters,” with whom he developed a project illustrating photographically the different ways with which we interact with homelessness on a daily basis. After graduating he found himself poor and frightened, and worked his way back to his hometown of Denver. He worked as a freelance designer and pursued conceptual photographic projects until he found gainful and fulfilling employment at the Denver VOICE.
